***ALFALFA HAS A BITE HISTORY***

Alfalfa has a new set of wheels and he’s ready to race to his forever home! This sweet pied boy had a spinal injury in March, resulting in hind end paralysis. Alfalfa gets around just fine by scooting along, but now that he has a cart, he’s ready to race!

Alfalfa has no control over his bladder or bowels (urinary and fecal incontinence). He wears a belly band & diaper during the day and needs to have his bladder expressed every 4-6 hours. He is very patient during his bladder expression and doesn't fuss with his pad or diaper changes. While it may take a little practice, bladder expression is easy to learn and once a bathroom routine is established, becomes easy to manage.

Alfalfa likes children of all ages and he gets along well with the resident kitties and pups in his foster home. He currently resides with three female bulldogs that he mostly ignores. Alfalfa does not like to share his toys or his bones, and if any dog acts interested in his things he will growl. Alfalfa is easily corrected, but this behavior will need to be monitored. Alfalfa is not interested in having another dog play with him and seems to prefer to be mostly ignored by other dogs. He can get excited when meeting new dogs, and if they are female, he will try to lick and hump them. Any future fur siblings will need to be calm and easy going. Cats need to be dog savvy, he does like to chase new felines (but then just likes to lick them, there's no malicious intent). Alfalfa does enjoy chasing the chickens in his foster home, so we would say no for homes with pet rabbits or other little critters that have run of the house.

There are really only two things in Alfalfa's world: toys and snuggles! He loves a good squeaky toy or game of tug-of-war or fetch. He really loves a good snuggle with his owner, preferably being held like a baby. Please rub my belly is his anthem! Alfalfa is a follower and a bit of a loafer. He prefers to spend his days lounging on his bed chewing his bone and squeaking his toys. In the evenings he wants cuddles with his human. One good daily stroll in his cart and he's a happy camper!

Alfalfa requires a home where someone is home all day or where he can accompany his person to the office. He needs an experienced dog owner, but a first time Frenchie owner is A-Okay. Children need to be older (10+) and they need to be gentle because of his back issues. Alfalfa cannot climb stairs so a home with minimum stairs is preferred. A fence yard is not required since a short walk on-leash in his cart is sufficient for exercise. Since Alfalfa scoots, hops and drags his back end to get around (when he’s not in his cart), there is an ongoing need to monitor for pressure/drag sores on his feet. Alfalfa would be a wonderful office dog! He's super mellow and if he has a soft bed and dog bone to chew on, he is content for hours.

Here’s a few words from Alfalfa’s adoring foster mom, “Alfalfa has the sweetest personality out of all my fosters. He makes me laugh how much he loves his toys and melts my heart how serious he takes his snuggling. Everyone that meets him instantly falls in love!”

If you can’t resist Alfalfa’s heart-melting brown eyes, then please apply for him today! Just make sure you’re ready for a road trip to Minnesota because this handsome boy is too big to fly.

FBRN dogs are in foster care in people's private homes. For the foster families' safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don't set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.

FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo. Adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
