"Although Louella is cute as a button, she needs a family that can provide her with boundaries as well as an active lifestyle. She is sweet and mischievous, with the cutest little tongue that sticks out from her underbite! Everyone who meets her falls instantly in love!"

Look out lads and ladies, lovely little Louella is looking for her forever home! Louella is tiny, but she is full of energy and loves to be part of the action. She is looking for a home with a family that has other dogs that she can play and romp with. Her favorite thing in the world besides a good Nylabone is wrasslin with other dogs and getting her zoomies on.

Louella LOVES other dogs. She needs a playmate and has bonded pretty strongly to the dog in her foster home. Preference will be given to a home with another dog. Louella would do best with a family that is home often and can give her lots of exercise. Although she is easy going, an experienced Frenchie family would be best, since it is likely that she may have some "typical" Frenchie issues arise in the future. Louella can live with cats and kids as long as they are dog-savvy--kids under 8 years old have a hard time resisting the impulse to pick up a puppy, and Frenchie spines can't deal with being dropped, so dog-savvy kids over 8 will be considered. Kids over 8 are more likely to remember to put up their things so a puppy can't chew them and to close doors and gates. Additionally, the children in her new family should be dog-savvy because Louella is small and a little timid and a rowdy child might make her nervous. The perfect home for Louella will be with an active family. She can live in any type of home as long as it has a nice yard and a good amount of space for her to run around. Louella would not do well if crated or left alone for a long period of time. If her new family is away from the home during the day a dog walker should come by and exercise her extensively. Louella will be bored and destructive without lots of exercise and attention. Adopters should keep that in mind when considering whether they are up for puppy shenanigans and whether they have the energy to keep her exercised.

Louella would be a great dog to bring to the office. She's awesome in the car and traveling, and fits nicely in a tote. Louella's adopters can also fly with her since she is small enough to travel in cabin.

Louella has a sensitive tummy, but we've found she is good on a high-quality, grain-free duck formula (Nature's Variety Instinct) and a daily probiotic. She may require allergy testing in the future as she's a bit young for allergies to emerge, but doesn't show any other signs currently. She does have luxating patellas and some changes in her hips that currently do not inhibit her. Her new family should be aware that this or IVDD may become a problem later on and that medical treatment may be necessary. Adopters should consider whether the costs of surgery are in the budget. Currently she is 100% fine and mobile, but sits strangely from time to time--it's hard to know if that's just ordinary loose-jointed puppiness or something that points to a future issue. Adopters should be aware of a potential problem and be sure to take her in for an annual wellness exam.

Louella is mostly housebroken. She CANNOT go more than 4-5 hours without going outside, but if kept on a good schedule, she doesn't have accidents. She is mostly crate-trained, but she really should not be with a family that is not home much due to her high energy drive. She is a chewer and WILL pick up things outside to eat (probably the source of some of her tummy troubles!), so adopters should be aware and keep her busy with toys. Louella is very smart and a quick learner and already knows "sit" and "down." She is also learning to be very polite on the leash. Her new family should continue with positive obedience training.

Louella's foster family has this to share about her, "Although Louella is cute as a button, she needs a family that can provide her with boundaries as well as an active lifestyle. She is sweet and mischievous, with the cutest little tongue that sticks out from her underbite! Everyone who meets her falls instantly in love!"

If you would like to adopt Louella, be prepared to travel. Louella is being fostered in Northern NJ and will not be shipped. FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo. Except in rare or unusual cases, adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family. In rare or unusual cases, FBRN may be able to assist in transporting a dog to a volunteer near the adopter's home, but the expense of transporting the dog must be the responsibility of the adopting party.

FBRN dogs are in foster care in people's private homes. For the foster families' safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don't set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
