Blazing onto the available page in a blaze of glory, it’s…Blaze! This brindle cutie was surrendered by a family who adored him, but due to a sad change in circumstance, couldn’t keep him. Turns out, Blaze is a pretty easy guy to love, and all he wants is to be BFFs with every person (and dog!) who crosses his path. Blaze craves socialization, and needs a family who can make him the center of their universe. Dare we say it shouldn’t be a difficult task with a dog this loveable?
Foster mom aptly describes Blaze as “a super happy, super playful, super cuddly gentleman.” He loves to play, especially with his stuffed donut-on-a-stick, and when he needs a break he curls up and suckles on his favorite stuffed toy. A fenced yard is a must for this little firecracker, and since he’s got energy to spare, Blaze would love a canine companion or two to join him in his wild rumpus! Blaze’s new family should also be well-trained in the art of head scratches, belly rubs, and attempting to change the channel with a Frenchie on their lap, since Blaze is a big time cuddler who wants to be near (or on top of) his people at all times.
Health-wise, Blaze is fit as a fiddle, but he does suffer from itchy paws due to environmental allergies. Daily Chlorhexidine foot soaks along with probiotic supplements have been working well so far. Blaze’s new family will need to continue this regimen, and keep a close eye on those itchies in case further veterinary intervention becomes necessary.
The perfect family for Blaze is one where he is with his people as much as possible. He’s not the type of dog who can be left alone for long periods of time during the day. And while he’d be more than happy to accompany you to work, know that he will try to leap into the lap of everyone he sees! Whether that will get you a raise or fired depends on your boss. Personally, we’d give Blaze his own job title and paycheck!
Blaze’s new family should also understand that while this clever boy is obedience trained and housebroken, there will be an adjustment period during which some accidents can be expected. More than anything, Blaze needs a home where he is a full-fledged member of the family, involved in daily activities, outings, and snooze sessions on the sofa.
Here’s what Blaze’s foster mom has to say about, “Blaze hasn't met a person who didn't immediately fall in love with him! He is the life of the party and also the most cuddly, affectionate gentleman there is! He will greet you with a hug and a kiss when you walk in the door and it will absolutely melt your heart! At only 1.5 years old he is very energetic and loves to go on walks and play with his many toys, but when he gets sleepy he just wants to snuggle next to someone and take a nap. He would love it if he could sleep in the bed with his people, but he's equally happy sleeping on the floor next to them. Blaze needs an owner with lots of energy to keep up with him! He's a very social guy, so he would love the opportunity to play with other friendly dogs from time to time as well. Whoever is chosen to give Blaze a forever home will be VERY fortunate!”
