Edna has made her way to the available page here at FBRN. This adorable girl is as sweet as can be and hasn’t yet met a stranger! Edna came to us by way of the local shelter as a stray and is estimated to be about 6 years old. She has hind end paralysis and limited mobility, but Edna doesn’t let that stop her! She is so fast in her cart that we’re quite sure she’s breaking some sort of speed record.

Since being in foster care, Edna has received many treatments – physical therapy, cold laser, water treadmill and acupuncture. She has done very well with all of these and shown significant improvement. Edna can stand for short periods of time on her own, but her therapist does not believe she will regain use of her back legs. That’s quite alright with Edna as she happily scoots around the house in her drag bag (which protects her back legs from friction sores) or races her Frenchie foster sister around the neighborhood in their carts!

Edna is incontinent and must have her bladder expressed multiple times a day. Bladder expression may seem daunting if you’ve never done it, but it’s actually quite simple and most people get the hang of it rather quickly. Edna’s foster mom currently expresses her bladder 5 times a day and Edna wears a diaper at night to prevent any accidents.

Edna loves to be with her humans; if she can't see you, she'll come find you! She isn't a fan being in a crate and can be pretty vocal about it at first, but she will eventually settle in. Edna is a laid back gal who enjoys a nice treat-filled Kong, a good stuffed toy, and the always needed afternoon nap. Edna loves a good snuggle session! She also enjoys greeting all the neighbors when she is on a roll around the block.

Edna has the activity level to keep up with kids or an active family of any kind. She is very well behaved around children, however, any children in her forever home should be old enough to understand that Edna shouldn’t be picked up or roughly handled. She'd do best with a family where someone could be home with her during the day.

Edna would do great in a home or an apartment; she could fit in anywhere! She has even gone to the office with her foster mom! Edna does great in an office setting and since she's so small, she is easily carried outside for her routine bladder expression.

Edna’s foster family wants you to know that, “Sweet Edna has been a joy to foster. She was in rough shape when I picked her up from the shelter, so skinny, scabs on her legs from dragging them around. But she never held a grudge about her past treatment. She is the most loving dog and appreciates any and all attention she can get.”

Sweet Edna is small enough to fly in cabin and does great in the car, so whether by plane, train, or bus, if you’re selected to be her forever family, then get ready to travel to sunny California! FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo; adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.

Edna suffers from hind end paralysis and has a cart for supervised use. She must always be carried up and down stairs and must not be allowed to jump off furniture. Edna is fecal and urinary incontinent and has a history of urinary tract infections.
