Here comes Greta, racing onto the available page! Greta came to FBRN when a change in circumstance meant that her previous family could no longer care for her. She’s already put all of that behind her and is on the look-out for her forever family. Read on to see if you and your family might be a perfect match.

Personality-wise, Greta is a 3-year-old puppy! She has no sense of her size (she’s a 29 pound bowling ball) and has very little basic behavior training. Greta barrels into things, jumps on things – even very high things – and puts everything in her mouth. That said, Greta is an absolute delight who loves everyone! She plays well with the calm and dog-savvy children in her foster home, gets along great with her foster fur sibling, and loves her toys, especially her stuffed moose! Greta is not aggressive at all, but she will not be cowed and will stand up for herself if pushed.

Greta’s foster family has worked hard to get her potty trained, but potential adopters must be aware that she could regress, especially during a transition to a new home. Greta is crate-trained but does not enjoy spending time in her crate. She vocalizes her displeasure with barking and the occasional Frenchie death wail, so apartment life may not be in her future. If Greta is left alone, a pen or gated area will be needed. She loves to chew everything and will go foraging, so being unsupervised could lead to disaster!

Greta is not a candidate for long walks due to her breathing issues, but short walks in cool weather are fine. She really enjoys playing in the yard and would love a fenced yard in her forever home. She is very people-oriented and wouldn’t do well in a home where she was left alone all day. She also needs frequent potty breaks, so the ideal home for Greta is one where someone is most of the day or has a flexible work schedule.

Healthwise, Greta is a pretty typical Frenchie. While in foster care, she had palate and nares surgery. Her breathing is much improved, but she must still be monitored, especially when she’s outdoors in warmer weather. She also has allergies, both food and environmental. She’s on a special diet, gets allergy shots, and has her feet and bottom wiped down when she comes inside. Her beautiful facial folds need regular cleaning as well. This extra care will prevent infections caused by her allergies and resultant scratching.

Here’s what Greta’s foster mom wants you to know, “We love Greta and her personality is exactly what we love about the Frenchie breed. She is a hilarious goofball who loves to play with everyone (and everything) and is the best cuddler when it is time to relax. Our 6 and 3 year old love her. She is always checking out what they are up to and will roll over on her back for belly scratches. She is beautiful-wrinkly and squishy and we call her our little baked potato. While her allergies and breathing means she needs a little extra attention, it is easy work, she is a good patient, and she will make a family VERY happy.”

Overall, Greta is a busy, happy girl who loves everyone and needs some time to grow into her size and age with the help and guidance of a patient forever family. GRETA is housebroken, but has occasional accidents in the house.

GRETA has several allergies and must remain on regular Cytopoint shots, Farmina N&D Functional Quinoa Skin & Coat Quail Coconut and Turmeric Dry Dog food and have regular medicated baths.

GRETA has brachycephalic airway syndrome. She had nares resection and palate resection on 6/21/2021 but remains symptomatic, so her breathing must be monitored during exercise or play. She must wear a harness when going for walks, never a collar or choke chain.

GRETA has a high prey drive and must never be around cats, birds, or other small animals.

GRETA has shown signs of separation anxiety.

GRETA has a history of ear and UTI infections that must be monitored for recurrence.
