"He is a precious and loving little cuddle bug. All he wants to do is be a young healthy pup, possibly to his detriment. With his history of IVDD, he could re-injury himself by jumping around, running, taking stairs, etc. He burns that energy with his puzzle toys. He also likes to try and catch your hand if he thinks there is a treat in them. Such a sweet loving little boy who deserves a family that will put his health needs above his needs to be rambunctious. He can play and still be a healthy pup doing other things. His human just has to show him how."

Handsome Philly found himself in foster care when the time and expense of managing his anxiety and IVDD became too much for his former family to manage. We’re happy to announce that sweet Philly is now on the look-out for a forever home! Could it be yours?

Philly is a truly laid-back little guy when he’s in a calm environment. His idea of a good day is chewing on his toys (Benebones and Nylabones), taking walks, napping, and snuggling with his people. Philly has high anxiety and does not do well with excitement, loud noises, or any kind of raucous activity. He enjoys his foster dog brother, who is very calm, and he follows him around. Philly startles very easily so a noisy environment should not be in his future.

Philly has a history of IVDD. Although he is not exhibiting any symptoms currently, there is a chance problems will arise as he gets older. Philly cannot eat poultry and is on probiotics to help with digestion. His foster family notes that he has a sensitive stomach and occasional tummy issues, but he is not currently on any medication beyond the probiotic.

While Philly is crate-trained, he does not enjoy being there! Of course, he knows that usually means being left by his people, which does not sit well with him. He is a lover after all and would really prefer that his person be available to him all day! Philly could be an office dog in the right (quiet) office setting. He would enjoy the attention once he met and adjusted to the new environment and people. Overall, Philly is a gem and would be a great addition to just about any quiet and more laid back household. He is a true little lover and will live his best life with someone who can provide him with a more calm and relaxed home.

Here’s what Philly’s foster mom wants you all to know, “Philly is an absolute sweetheart and will make his soon-to-be forever home that much more special. He is a true SNUGGLE BUG and loves giving pup kisses whenever he can. Though he startles easily and suffers from anxiety, he has transitioned extremely well in a LOW KEY ENVIRONMENT with a low key pup brother to follow around. He has truly been a pleasure to foster and has made every day that he has been with us, funnier and brighter. He will be truly, truly missed! We have absolutely fallen in love with Silly Philly.”

If you are ready for a loving little man who needs a low-key environment in which to thrive, consider filling out an application and planning a trip to Central North Carolina for Philly. FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.

FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations and we do not set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.

About Philly:

PHILLY has IVDD and should be monitored closely for recurring flares. He must always be carried up and down stairs and must not be allowed to jump on or off the furniture.

PHILLY should remain on daily probiotics due to his sensitive stomach.
