Squee! Get your fingers and keyboards ready because FBRN's cutest, most adorably precious cow dog, Pete, is now available! At 3 years old, this delicious cookies-and-cream colored pup was surrendered to a local vet for back pain and fears of expensive back surgery. Without any previous history given, an Xray of his back and his physical demeanor didn't reveal any causes for treatment so, after a good talon, er, nail trim, off to foster he went.

One of the first things Pete did when meeting his new foster family, was run around the corner and flip over for a belly rub. He LOVES belly rubs and giving kisses. While he may seem adorably squishy, he is not really a lap dog, but he just might give you kisses all day long if you let him. If Pete isn't getting belly rubs, you'll probably find him sleeping or playing. He likes chewing on toys and bones and, every once in a while, he gets a burst of energy and will wrassle with another dog.

He gets along well with other dogs but is allergic to cats, so a no-cat home is required. Pete is also a resource guarder and that means what's his is his and what's yours is also his. He has responded well to correction but he has growled at the other dogs while he was eating or playing with a toy he didn't want to share. He has also snapped at the younger humans in the household when toys or food were involved, so he must go to an adult-only home. Tell us about your successful experiences with managing resource guarding and your application might just get special attention! With consistency and dedication, resource guarding can improve.

Pete sleeps in his crate through the night and will let you know when he needs to be let out in the morning. He came to FBRN intact so, while mostly house trained, he was marking before his neuter surgery so that should improve with time. Due to potential back issues, Pete should go to a home without any stairs or stairs that can be blocked off. He should also refrain from being allowed to jump off furniture. As with any Frenchie, financial consideration should always be taken into consideration if Pete should need back surgery in the future.

We think Pete would do well as an only dog or with canine buddies, as long as the resource guarding is carefully monitored. He could prove to be a good office dog IF he is allowed to slowly acclimate to the environment and people. If you work in a daycare or pediatrician's office, plan to leave Pete at home. He should do just fine with a midday potty break.

In the short time his foster has had him, she became quite smitten saying, "Pete likes affection and will reward you with plenty of kisses! He's definitely all young boy - rowdy and a little clumsy. He's fun, sweet and full of personality. With a strong leader and someone to remind him to act like a gentleman when he needs correction, he will be the perfect companion."
